Terence Koo is an Australian jazz pianist, composer, lecturer, teacher and recording artist.
Originally from Tamworth, he graduated from the University of Newcastle top of his class with first class honours, and the University Medal. Terence has released three feature albums (Pieces of Rain, Lunacity, and disCOVERies), and been a session musician on many others.
In 2014, he played on the album Amazing by Marcia Hines, and has appeared in a music video featuring Marcia Hines and Russell Crowe. Terence has shared the stage with musicians such as: Francine Bell, Nigel Butterley, Su Cruickshank, Andrew Firth, George Golla, Damien Leith, Bruce Mathiske, and John Morrison.
In 2023, Terence was the band leader of a jazz quartet performing on board the MS Noordam, cruising from Sydney to Vancouver, and backing artists such as Viviana Guzman, Katei, Patrick Roberts, and Natalie Toro. He has worked with bands such as: Wobbly Boot Jazz and Blues Band, 80’s to the Max, Diamond (9-piece Neil Diamond band), Swing Kings, and the Dungeon Big Band.
He also leads his own jazz ensemble: The Terence Koo Trio. Terence’s repertoire is wide and varied including jazz standards, pop covers, and classical piano – many reinvented with synth grooves, cool beats and jazztronica/lofi influences.
