Lucy Charles is a melodic singer songwriter who plays guitar and piano. Lucy’s distinctive sound sits at the intersection of folk, pop and alt-country. Lucy has played at numerous music festivals across NSW and is a regular on the live music scene in venues across the Central Coast, Sydney and Newcastle. Lucy puts her heart and soul into every performance and has been described by local artist Sarah Humphreys as ‘humble and sweet with a simply gorgeous voice and perfect pitch’.
Aside from her love of performing, Lucy is also a gifted songwriter. A self-described lover of honest and confessional lyrics, Lucy’s raw songwriting carries a melodic sensibility that will resonate as much to fans of Amy Shark and Vance Joy, as it will Taylor Swift and Kasey Musgraves.
Already the recipient of multiple awards, Lucy took out first place in the 2020 International Songwriters Competition (ISC) winning the Teen Category with her song ‘Back Up’. The ISC is the world’s largest songwriting competition, with over 26,000 artists entering in 2020, the competition included Coldplay, Dua Lipa and Tom Waits as judges.
Recognised as a standout performer in Triple J’s Unearthed High in both 2020 and 2021, Lucy has inked a record deal with boutique Australian indie label Double Drummer (Greta Stanley, Emma Swift) and a publishing deal with ORiGIN Music Publishing (Megan Washington, Gotye).
